Chicago based McDonagh Demolition, Inc. was invited by The City of Chicago to attend a conversation with Mayor Rahm Emanuel on infrastructure and capital investment. Held at the Chicagoland Laborers’ District Council Training and Apprentice center, the Mayor was able to speak on all the new changes coming to Chicago concerning the future of CTA’s, infrastructure, as well as current and potential new infrastructure building projects and improvements. Not only did all of the attendees learn of what the future of their great city holds, but they were also included in an honorary ribbon cutting ceremony. The mayor and many laborers of the district council participated in a ribbon cutting to celebrate breaking ground on expanding the training and apprentice center down on the Southside of Chicago. As a metaphorical ribbon, the mayor and other participants each shoveled a pile of dirt and tossed it away as they quickly smiled realizing what that small motion meant for the next step forward in growing and expanding our training as well as improving it. The breaking ground was over all too soon as the Mayor was then kind enough to walk around meeting those eager to get just one moment to say their hellos. The day ended with everyone excited to continue working in the right direction for the future of the laborers as well as the future of what Chicago has the capacity to become.
McDonagh believes that training is essential in trying to be proactive and proficient with their work. They support any organization and individual that wishes to help improve the training programs across the board in the demolition and construction industry. The expansion of the training center is the perfect step and support they need to show that in order to get the job done right, the proper steps need to be taken prior. They sated that they cannot wait to see how the new expansion project turns out and are excited to have newly trained laborers enter into this working field in a smart and safe way.
