Athersys Inc. (Nasdaq: ATHX) swung to a greater than expected profit for the fourth quarter of 4 cents per share compared with a loss of 8 cents per share last year as revenue surged. Shares of the biotechnology firm climbed 35 cents to close at $2.18.
