The exhibition is being held in the spacious lobby of Axalta’s Shanghai office building is the tenth stop on ECO-NOMY magazine’s exhibition tour. The magazine’s branding exhibition combines beautiful photos with simple text to create an effective description of the selected case studies. The aim of the exhibition is to encourage the public to learn about environmentally responsible solutions through best practices and displays.

“We are very pleased that Axalta’s new offices have been selected by the exhibition and presented together with other best practices in our building,” said Luke Lu, Axalta Vice President and President of China. “It is meaningful that the collective commitment to sustainability which is demonstrated by the exhibition will reach and inspire more people as the exhibition tour moves on.”

In July, 2014, Axalta Shanghai Office received the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold certification under the LEED for Commercial Interiors Rating System from the U.S. Green Building Council.

“Axalta’s Asia Pacific head office in Shanghai is the perfect space for this environmental conservation exhibition,” says Sun Haiyan, Chief Editor of ECO-NOMY. “The office provides a healthy and energy-efficient working place for employees through many green initiatives. “

According to a report from United Nations Environment Programme*, 40% of global energy consumption is related to buildings. Therefore lowering this energy consumption is the main goal of green buildings. In order to improve energy efficiency, when buying electronic devices, Axalta’s Shanghai office makes those with the “Energy Star” certificate its first choice. In addition, the office also takes advantage of natural light. Motion sensors are installed in the window-side areas, which can adjust the lighting according to exterior light levels and thus reduce the amount of energy used for lighting. To lower the office’s VOC emissions, the office uses green certified furniture and Interface’s “TacTiles™” carpets that do not use adhesives. Air quality detectors have also been installed in the Axalta Shanghai office so that employees can check the air quality of their working environment at any time.

Another Axalta environmental responsibility case study selected to be part of the exhibition is its automotive coating solutions. The company’s high solid solventborne systems and waterborne coating systems, have been developed to reduce VOC emission, improve productivity for customers and achieve durable coating results.

“The Eco-journey of 500 Paper Boxes” was first exhibited in January 2014, and so far it has toured to different public spaces such as the Shanghai Library, Shanghai World Financial Center, Tongji University, the Development Bank of Singapore, Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, etc.
