Pompano Beach, FL - February 15, 2012 (PRBuzz.com) February 16, 2012 -- The United States Environmental Protection Agency recently completed their shoot for O2 Media's popular DIY television show, "Designing Spaces." The segment, which features EPA energy expert, Denise Durrett, will air in May on Lifetime Television. Durrett educates viewers about the best methods of increasing energy efficiency and reducing cost on electric bills.
Energy Star is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's trusted mark of superior energy efficiency on appliances and products for the home and workplace. It can also be found on new buildings and houses. The Energy Star label means the product is more energy efficient than a conventional one; it's cost effective; and it delivers the same or better performance with no sacrifice in the quality, style or features that today's consumers expect. In addition, Energy Star helps promotes energy-efficient behavior which helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the climate.
"Homes contribute nearly 17 percent of the nation's greenhouse gas emissions and most of the energy used in our homes comes from burning fossil fuels at power plants," says Durrett. "Using less energy at home helps you reduce your electric bill and greenhouse gas emissions because it involves burning less fossil fuel."
During the segment, Durrett discusses how energy efficiency can make an important impact on the environment as well as the cost of energy bills. She reviews tips for reducing energy consumption through better awareness. The suggestions she gives will help viewers improve the functionality and energy efficiency of their current electrical appliances as well as educate them about the variety of Energy Star products available on the market.
"Working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop a segment on 'Designing Spaces' was a pleasure," says Lysa Liemer, Designing Spaces' Executive VP of Programming and Chief Operating Officer. "Energy Star products provide real value to our viewers, and give them the tools to reduce consumption while saving money."
