Furthering his education he graduated with his Medical Degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1992, giving him over two decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his medical degree he completed his internal medicine residency from the University of North Carolina, where he was named Acting Chief Resident.
Dr Jacobs is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. To stay up to date in his field, Dr Jacobs remains a professional member of the American College of Physicians, North Carolina Medical Society, and the Wake County Medical Society.
Dr Jacobs and wife Kimmie have served together on a short-term medical mission trip to El Salvador and since 2008 he serves as a board member supporting this ongoing work. The entire Jacobs' family was able to serve short-term in two orphanages in Beijing, China in May 2008. Subsequently, members of the Jacobs clan have served in Kenya, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Red Springs, NC. They are active members in the children's and youth ministry at Colonial Baptist Church and in the sports ministry where Dr Jacobs volunteers as a developmental league basketball coach.
