CORRECTING and REPLACING Top Money Managers Invest in Chicago’s Kids

In release dated October 31, 2014, in the list of renowned speakers, the company associated with Mike Wilkins should be: Kingsford Capital Management (instead of TPG-Axon Capital Management).

TOP MONEY MANAGERS INVEST IN CHICAGO’S KIDS

  • Sixth Annual Invest for Kids conference to be held Nov. 6
  • Conference brings together some of the nation’s top investors

Eleven of the nation’s most prominent money managers are sharing their best investment ideas at Chicago’s sixth annual Invest for Kids conference. The investors will be sharing their ideas in concise 15-minute presentations, as well as two longer fireside conversations.

“Our event brings together well-known money managers who have generated outstanding returns in all market environments,” said Ben Kovler, a co-founder of Invest for Kids (IFK), head of the Kovler Family Office, and the founding partner of Green Thumb Industries. “Conference attendees will learn how some of the best investing minds are deploying their capital now given current macroeconomic challenges.”

The event takes place on Nov. 6th at the Harris Theater and the admission cost will be donated directly to local children’s charities.

“The views of our IFK’s speakers have been insightful and, not surprisingly, the ideas they presented have produced extraordinary results,” said Ron Levin, a co-founder of the event and a managing director at Goldman Sachs. “This year we have an exemplary group of speakers and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to IFK and to Chicago.”

Levin says IFK has raised nearly $7 million and supported thirty-six different organizations serving over eighty thousand underprivileged Chicagoland children since it started only six years ago. Last year’s event drew one thousand attendees and raised approximately $1.4 million.

“We are using every dollar wisely to enhance the lives of underprivileged children,” said Levin. “From helping young children achieve early reading success to supporting students through college graduation, we are committed to continuing to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Chicago area children.”

The 2014 charities include: Chicago Children’s Choir, Chicago Scholars, Intrinsic Schools, LEARN Charter Schools Network, North Chicago Community Partners, OneGoal and Reading in Motion.
