Spending is as much psychological as it is physical spending. It is called the "wealth effect". When you feel richer, you spend more, and help to boost the economy. In reverse, if your stocks are down you are more hesitant to spend with borrowed money. When this happens across a society it can lead to a recession.

Rubino recommends investing in gold and silver to maintain some stability in order to protect yourself from market swings and potential financial crises that can occur.
