Los Angeles based game forecasting company, AccuScore.com has determined Jason Kidd will bring a positive impact to the Dallas Mavericks against the Western Conference’s playoff contenders this season.
Prior to this trade, Dallas was a slight underdog against the top five teams in the west, winning only 46% of simulations. With the addition of Jason Kidd, the Mavericks composite win probability increases 4.7% to 50.4%. In addition, AccuScore recently published studies on the impact of Pau Gasol becoming a Los Angeles Laker, and Shaquille O’Neill joining the Phoenix Suns.
In the case of Gasol, AccuScore numbers show that his acquisition will have the most impact when center Andrew Bynum returns for injury. With both players in the line-up, the Lakers composite win probability increases 6% against the Suns, Jazz, Hornets, Spurs and Mavericks.
AccuScore forecasts the acquisition of Shaquille O’Neill to have a negative impact on the Suns. Prior to the trade, the Suns had a composite win probability of 55% against the Jazz, Hornets, Spurs, Mavericks and Lakers. When AccuScore simulated games with O’Neill against the same five teams, the Suns composite win probability dropped eight points to 47%.
