Terracotta Delivers Reliability and Scalablity Enhancements for Adobe ConnectNow

Terracotta, a leader in infrastructure software for enterprise Java scalability, today announced that it is providing key enhancements to help ensure high reliability and scalability for Adobe ConnectNow, the web conferencing service from Acrobat.com. By using Terracottas high-performance redundant cache in runtime state rather than a database, ConnectNow offers quality service for a high volume of Web meetings and activity, while enabling seamless recovery in case of a partial system failure.

ConnectNow is a personal Web conferencing service designed for collaborative meetings for individual professionals and businesses. Users can instantly communicate and collaborate through an easy-to-use, easy-to-access online personal meeting room. ConnectNow is available for free sign up as part of the Acrobat.com public beta at www.acrobat.com.

Terracottas shared application memory store is an ideal approach to scale critical applications because it offers the performance of local memory along with the high availability of a database. This capability eliminates the performance and reliability tradeoffs that constrain Java applications today.

Choosing Terracotta for our distributed cache technology has enabled us to implement our key requirements, without needing to make dramatic changes to our codebase, said Mark Grilli, group product marketing manager for Adobes Business Productivity Business Unit. The Terracotta cache also has enabled us to build system management and monitoring applications that are connected to the Terracotta cache, with no interference to our application servers. And with Terracottas responsive support, easy to follow samples and guides, and helpful developer tools, we were able to rapidly build this project.

Terracotta is very pleased to have been chosen for this task by Adobe, one of the most innovative and successful software companies in the world, said Amit Pandey, CEO of Terracotta. This selection is yet another example of how the relational database alone, and other traditional data management technologies, cannot meet the scalability needs of many of the new applications that are emerging today.
