Have banks really turned it around?

It’s a good sign that investors are able to digest big U.S. banks’ equity offerings designed to help shore up balance sheets and repay the government under the Troubled Asset Relief Program. But they should maintain an air of skepticism toward any notion that a renaissance for the banks is at hand.
