Angel Fire Resort, Northern New Mexico’s premier family vacation destination, announced today that it will be expanding its terrain for skiers and boarders, offering new special winter discounts, and continuing programs to create the best family friendly ski resort experience in the Southern Rockies for the 2014-2015 season.

MORE TERRAIN PARKS:

The Railyard, a new terrain park will open this winter off the side of the popular green trail Headin’ Home and will feature boxes, rails and jumps geared towards those new to skiing and boarding. This dedicated space will allow beginners a safe place to try out their tricks before attempting the more advanced terrain parks.

The resort is also moving the nighttime terrain park Night Rider to Exhibition. This new location is on the front side of the mountain, which will allow the park to take advantage of the best snow on the mountain. Night Rider will be open both day and night and will offer the best lighted terrain for those who wish to stay after dark. (Available on weekends and holiday peak periods.)

FAMILY FIRST MOUNTAIN:

“There are plenty of resorts in the Rockies that offer great skiing. We want our guests to choose to come to Angel Fire Resort because of our commitment to creating the most dedicated family-first winter destination,” explains Dan Swanson, director of marketing, Angel Fire Resort. “From offering one of the best ski schools in the region, to creating the most beginner and intermediate trails in the state, to providing ideal lodging and pricing we continue to look for ways to be the best option for families.”

DEDICATED PROGRAMS FOR FAMILIES:

Angel Fire Resort continues improvements to its full-service Children’s Ski School and on-site day care, known as SnowBear Camp. Several programs are in place to help parents get the most of their time on the slopes while their children are actively engaged learning to ski and board, making new friends and having fun.

  • Ski Free Month – new this season, stay at the Lodge at Angel Fire Resort January 5 – 29 and ski for free. (Excludes Friday and Saturday nights and January 18th.)
  • The Parenting Pass – Perfect for the family that has already developed their snow skills. This interchangeable pass allows two parents to take turns coaching and skiing with their child. Also allows parents to take turns on the mountain in a single day, while the other stays behind to care for a little one who is too young to ski.
  • High Five Learn to Ski and Ride Program - The program is designed for first time skiers and boarders ages 13 & older to progress through a series of 5 lessons and earn a free season pass with their completion of the program. Lessons can be taken consecutively, during successive visits or even split over two winter seasons.
  • 3 Ski Program - For the tiniest of tots just learning how to ski the resort offers a unique program for three year olds. The 3 Ski Program offers little ones a short private lesson, lunch and snacks plus snow play and activities at SnowBear Camp. This allows the parents a full day on the slopes themselves, knowing that their little ones are in good hands for the whole day.
  • The Family Season Pass – new this season, for $1299 a family of up to 6 people can purchase an unlimited ski and snowboard pass for each member of the family.
  • 5th Graders ski free – the only ski resort in New Mexico to offer all 5th graders a free lift ticket with their report card and a paying, accompanying adult.
  • Kids 6 and Under Ski Free
  • The resort has a dedicated Children's Chef - creating homemade comfort food favorites, nut free, lunches and snacks for day campers and ski-schoolers. Say goodbye to soggy PB&J’s and boxed Mac and Cheese.
  • The Nordic Center will be open for its fourth season, offering both skate and classic-style cross-country skiing. The groomed, looped trails wind skiers along rolling, scenic canyons of native spruce, pine and aspen trees, starting at 8,400’ elevation. For the non-skiing crowd, the Nordic Center is open to snowshoers as well.
  • Angel Fire Resort also has a large slate of non-skiing family activities including: Tubing Hill (the Polar Coaster complete with a 700’ conveyor belt to take the hike out of tubing), a traditional sledding hill, a Snowman Garden complete with snowman making kits, snow art competitions, indoor pools, hot tub and two fitness centers. Additionally in the Village of Angel Fire horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice fishing and snowmobiling are also available.

AFFORDABLE AND CONVENIENT LODGING:

Angel Fire Resort hosts a wide range of affordable lodging. From the Lodge, condos and private homes, families can choose just how many bedrooms and kitchens they need. Lodging is conveniently located right at the base of the mountain, and many units are within walking distance to the chairlifts, rental shop and ski school.
