A Leading Oxnard Employment Agency Hosted California Legislative and Legal Update 2019

Oxnard, Calif. – Express Employment Professionals, a leading Oxnard employment agency, hosted the legal update to help explain the new laws that will affect companies in California from 2019 and forward presented by Lonnie Giamela of Fisher Phillips LLP.

Giamela went over the Epic Systems case, which confirmed the lawfulness of class action waivers in arbitration agreements; the Dynamex case, imposing new tests for independent contractor classification; and the Starbucks case, holding that the “de minimis” rule for working off the clock isn’t applicable in California. The significant case law of 2018 was also discussed.

Giamela focuses on being a “one-stop shop” for any-sized business to address employment and labor law needs. He is an expert on matters regarding fair employment and leave management, Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) litigation, wage and hour compliance, mass layoff strategy, payroll tax audits, management training and bringing those matters to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
