Cree Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) disappointed with sharply lower first quarter earnings of $0.09 per diluted share compared with 25 cents per diluted share a year earlier that fell short of analyst expectations. Shares of the LED lighting maker plummeted $5.87 to close at $27.28.
