Flat close as crude oil slips

The markets closed flat with the Dow slipping 4 points to 17,732 as crude oil prices edged down. Nasdaq eased a point to 5,073.

Shares of Match Group (Nasdaq: MTCH) surged on its first trading day.


Square (NYSE: SQ) stock leaped in its market debut.

On the downside


Geospace Technologies (Nasdaq: GEOS) widened losses for the fourth quarter.


Shares of TerraForm Power (Nasdaq: TERP) fell for the fourth straight day.


PTC Therapeutics (Nasdaq: PTCT) completed enrollment in a Phase 3 clinical trial of Translarna for patients with nonsense mutation cystic fibrosis but the stock price tumbled.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of 10 to 9 on the NYSE while decliners edged out advancers by more than 9 to 7 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 slipped 2 points to 2,081. Bitcoin lost $7 to $326.
