Flat close after drop in nonfarm jobs

The markets closed flat with the Dow easing a point to 22,773 after the number nonfarm jobs fell. Nasdaq added 4 points to 6,590.


On the upside


Shares of Switch (NYSE: SWCH) surged in its market debut.


Herbalife (NYSE: HLF) reported that approximately 6.7 million common shares of stock were tendered through its modified Dutch auction.


The Food and Drug Administration approved Flexion Therapeutics' (Nasdaq: FLXN) non-opioid steroid injection to treat knee pain.

On the downside


Investors locked in profits on Rhythm Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: RYTM).


Retreating crude oil prices weighed down shares of Zion Oil & Gas (Nasdaq: ZN).

Shares of Catabasis Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: CATB) continued to drop.


In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of more than 5 to 3 on the NYSE and by nearly 9 to 8 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 slipped 2 points to 2,549. Bitcoin gained $17 to $4,342.
