Video Experts Group (VXG) Launches Consumer Lottery Ticket Checker App for Canadian Lotto 6/49 and Ontario 49

Video Experts Group (VXG), a global leader in mobile media playback applications, today announced the release of their newest Canadian app for Android, "Lotto Scanner" for Lotto 6/49 and Ontario 49 players.

Richmond Hill, Canada - January 27, 2015 - (iNewswire)

VXG Lotto Scanner was soft launched last week and made available to beta testers and close business associates of VXG.  Since making it available, Lotto Scanner has impressed both industry experts and the users who were lucky enough to test the scanner before it’s released on Google Play later this week.  Currently only the Canadian Lotto 6/49 and Ontario 49 tickets are supported, however VXG has stated that their plans are to support all North American lotteries by the end of 2015.

“Yes I’m excited and for so many reasons.  For example, let me ask you this?” asks Jace Parratti, Director of Sales and Marketing at VXG.  “If you had ten million dollars in your bank account right now, would you let a complete stranger handle your cheque book, bank card, or credit card…behind a counter…completely out of view?  Absolutely not!  Then why would you hand your lottery ticket to that same stranger?  Well, guess what.  Every week tens of millions of Canadians do and they don’t realize how exposed they really are. Now users can check their tickets using their smartphones”

Mr. Parratti references the string of arrests of retailers who scammed loyal customers out of winnings by either swapping tickets or declaring their lottery tickets as losers.  One of the cases highlighted by Parratti was that of Burlington’s Kathleen Chung, who claimed a $12.5-million jackpot. The winning ticket was validated at the Burlington store managed by her brother and where her parents worked. Police allege Chung’s father and brother stole the free play ticket in 2003 from its rightful owners after it was validated at the Burlington store.

“Yes we’ve come a long way since the Kathleen Chung.  Now, there are scanners in every retail store that allow players to check their own tickets, or they can visit their local lottery corporation’s website,” adds Parratti.  “However, we wanted to add a convenience factor.  Now our users can simply use our VXG Lotto Scanner application from the comfort of their own home.”

VXG Lotto Scanner is quick and easy to use.  The user simply places their lottery ticket on a flat surface, opens the application, and places the logo of their lottery ticket within the defined area on their screen.  The application will then compare the user’s numbers with those in the database…and voila!

“Right now the application only analyzes Lotto 6/49 and Ontario 49 tickets, however we are working day and night to build it out nationally and internationally,” continues Parratti.  “It’s really quite simple to use and it only takes a try or two to understand the overall product.  I’m really proud of our team over here.”

VXG Lotto Scanner is available for Android on Google Play for immediate download.  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=vxg.lotto.ont.p&hl=en
