Those interested are encouraged to read the full article here. The Legendary Marine Service Team says that theirs is the 3rd marina to be designated as a Clean Marina in Okaloosa County and the 19th in the state.

Jeremy Holcomb with Legendary Marine and Legendary Boating Club says: "We have been recognized because we have been resilient to both man-made and natural disasters. We have always been 100% committed to protecting the environment and ensuring that we engage in sustainable practices. We do this everywhere, from the design of our marina to how we conduct our daily operations."

People are encouraged to learn more about the Clean Marina Program to understand the importance of the recognition. Stringent standards have to be met in order to receive the designation, which include having to put in place management best practices that ensure the waterways in Florida are fully protected. These include having strategies in place for waste management, spill prevention, and other critical issues. Furthermore, to obtain and maintain the Clean and Resilient Marina designation, marinas must go above and beyond their environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.

One of the things that sets Legendary Marine, also home to Legendary Boating Club in Destin, apart from others, is that they have a dedicated emergency preparedness team. Additionally, all staff members are trained in storm water management. The design of the marina is such that its storage facilities can withstand winds of up to 140 miles an hour. Meanwhile, their main pilings can withstand the storm surges expected of hurricanes up to Category 2. Furthermore, when a storm surge happens, their floating docks are able to rise and fall along with it.

Lance R. Brown, safety coordinator and facility manager at Legendary Marine, says: "We have worked hard, improving our policies and procedures, with the goal of earning the Clean and Resilient designation, which shows Legendary Marine's commitment to being an ecologically responsible marina."
