OpenStack Summit Heads to Europe; Community Voting Underway on 1,100+ Speaking Proposals

For the first time, the OpenStack® Summit is coming to Europe. The 10th OpenStack Summit will be held November 3-7, 2014 at the Palais de Congrès and the Le Meridien in Paris. This week-long event brings together users, developers, telco leaders and enterprise CIOs from across the industry to collaborate on the future of cloud computing.

The OpenStack Summit Paris will offer keynote presentations, breakout sessions and workshops focused on business value, deployment case studies, devops best practices, and technical how-tos showcasing momentum in the OpenStack user community and developing the roadmap for the 11th release of the software, set for spring 2015.

More than 1,100 submissions were received in the call for papers, covering topic areas including:

  • Cloud application developers and applications
  • Telco cloud strategies, including network function virtualization (NFV)
  • Enterprise case studies and best practices on the path to enterprise cloud adoption
  • Data sovereignty and privacy issues

Session voting is now live, allowing OpenStack community members to browse the speaking submissions by category and provide their feedback.

Information on discounted rates for early registrations as well as sponsorship information can be found at the OpenStack Summit Paris website.

Europe Big Component of OpenStack Community Growth

The Summit draws thousands of participants from around the world. The most recent installment of the twice-annual Summit was held in May, in Atlanta, Georgia, and drew more than 4,500 users, developers and CIOs from service providers, major telcos and enterprises. A video recap of the Atlanta summit and session videos and slides demonstrate the depth of user engagement and energy surrounding the community.

The OpenStack community is global, and Europe is one of the strongest user and industry ecosystems. Paris has one of the most active local user groups, and the city is home to an established OpenStack event series that has brought together cloud computing pioneers. Across Europe, government interest in open source and cloud is growing, and OpenStack has seen strong telco and carrier adoption across the continent partially driven by data sovereignty issues.
