Collegiate Exchange Programs Discussed on "Informed" with Host Rob Lowe for Public Television

An upcoming segment of the educational series will look into the worldly experiences available for students

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 27, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In a compelling and informative "Informed" segment, host Rob Lowe will introduce a new program that explores collegiate exchange programs. The short-form documentary examines collegiate exchange programs and their effect on education and international understanding.

Currently, 10% of U.S. college graduates have participated in exchange programs abroad. The programs have a long history in the U.S. The junior year abroad began officially in the 1920s, partly as a way of extending the nineteenth-century gentlemen's tour of Europe to a wider group engaged in higher learning. They gained popularity in the 1960s given wider demographic participation in college, the expanded geopolitical role of the U.S. after World War II, and a robust economy. Collegiate exchange programs have been praised for their ability to foster cross-cultural ties and improve international understanding.

This new segment of "Informed" will look into the history, and the future, of these programs and how they positively impact students.

Informed is created solely for Public Television and distributed to PBS public television member stations across the country. Each episode of the program is filmed in high definition and must meet the highest of quality standards before being approved to air. Informed employs an award-winning team of writers, producers, and videographers besides its well-known host, film and television actor Rob Lowe.
