NYPD switches to iPhones

The New York Police Department will replace approximately 36,000 Windows smartphones with Apple iPhones. Officers are currently using the outdated Lumia 830 or Lumia 640 XL that run on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system which is no longer supported by Microsoft. The iPhones have been provided for free to the department and will be distributed to officers beginning in the fall.


Domino's partnered with Ford to test delivering pizzas using a self-driving car in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A text will be sent to customers when the Ford Fusion hybrid arrives. Customers retrieve their orders by entering the last four digits of their phone number on a screen on the vehicle.


Microsoft priced its Windows Mixed Reality headset and motion controller package at $399. The virtual reality content that will be available include games such as Minecraft, Space Pirate Trainer and Fantastic Contraption along with immersive experiences to destination locations such as Machu Picchu. Users will also be able to play SteamVR games.


In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of nearly 9 to 8 on the NYSE while advancers barely edged out decliners by a slim margin on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 held steady at 2,444. Bitcoin leaped $170 to $4,547.
