Citi Demonstrates Business Excellence in Global Custodian Agent Banks Major Markets Survey, Global Finance Best Global Banks Awards

Citi today announced that it was recently recognized by two leading publications covering the securities services and banking businesses, Global Custodian and Global Finance. The Agent Banks in Major Markets Survey from Global Custodian measures client perceptions of the quality of clearing, settlement and asset servicing provided by agent banks and the Global Finance awards recognize leading providers for performance over the past year as well as for other subjective criteria including reputation and management excellence.

As in previous years, Citi has retained its top ratings with its cross-border non-affiliated clients in the 2014 Global Custodian Agent Banks in Major Markets Survey outperforming in 18 markets globally: Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, UK, USA.

According to clients, Citi’s key strengths are: Asset Servicing and Relationship and Client Services. Citi was delighted to attain top scores across all six survey categories (Settlement, Asset Servicing, Relationship & Client Service, Technology, Ancillary Services, and Value Delivered.) in both the UK and Netherlands; only nine providers achieved this level of commendation across the 2014 Survey.

Additionally, Citi was awarded The World’s Best Global Bank for Subcustody by Global Finance after extensive consultations with banks, corporate financial executives and analysts throughout the world. “These survey results reinforce the strength of our platform across geographies and service areas” said Lee Waite, Global Head of Direct Custody and Clearing, Citi. “We feel these recognitions are indicative of the trust that our clients place in us. We are pleased to have received their votes of confidence again this year.”

Global Custodian will report additional findings from the survey pertaining to Emerging Markets and Frontier Markets later this fall.

Citi's Direct Custody and Clearing provides asset servicing and transaction functions primarily to intermediaries such as broker-dealers, global custodians and banks, and increasingly to fund managers, insurance companies and other global investors through a proprietary network in over 60 markets. The scale of this network, provided through Citi’s own offices and staffed with Citi experts in each market, provides a valuable service for clients.
