Design Firm Spin-off Is Scanning Entire Cities, 3D-Printing Collectible Models at 1:5000 Scale

NEW YORK, New York – February 9, 2016 – Imagine being able to hang the entire island of Manhattan on the living room wall. Newly announced Microscape models, which capture the sculptural beauty of cityscapes and turn architectural tools into uniquely beautiful decorative objects, allows people to do just that. As seen on Gizmodo, Curbed, Designboom, Slate, and Contemporist, Microscape architectural models celebrate the sculptural beauty of cities in 1:5000 scale durable tiles that can be displayed anywhere!

These models are detailed, replicas of main cities. They’re 3D-printed from their own accurate, up-to-date aerial scan data, meaning that they can evolve along with the built environment. Furthermore, the Micoscape team annually processes all of that data to make it printable, so they can also include buildings still under construction or still in planning. Microscape intends to cover major cities across the United States and around the world, but their initial proving ground has been the city of New York.

Alone or in groups on a desk, coffee table or wall, Microscape models are as beautiful as they are architecturally accurate. The team will soon make the entire island of Manhattan available in the form of individual, six-inch square tiles that can be collected and assembled any way a buyer chooses. However, before people can enjoy these beautiful architectural models, Microscape needs support. That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign, which was selected as a “Project We Love” by the crowd-sourcing company.

The goal of this project was to raise $8,000 by February 24, 2016. However, Microscape is proud to announce that they’ve far exceeded their goal, by eight times in fact. But, that doesn’t mean interested parties shouldn’t back the project, as with more support, Microscape can make additional, limited edition “Landmark” tiles available, giving backers more parts of the city to choose from. Additional support also means that they can expand their production capacity further and speed up delivery of rewards to backers.

To help bring these incredible cityscape models to market, please visit the Kickstarter campaign by clicking here. Rewards will be delivered between May 2016 and December 2016.

The more people know about this, the more support the campaign will receive.
