Centene Corp. (NYSE: CNC) reported sharply higher second quarter earnings that beat expectations of 98 cents per share compared with 72 cents per share in the year ago period and lifted its full year earnings outlook but the stock price plunged $6.39 to close at $68.87 after the company said that it would not participate in the bidding for potential divestitures from Aetna's proposed acquisition of Humana.
