Boss Laser has stepped up its current line of CO2 laser cutting and engraving machines to offer more power, size, and ease of use. The U.S. based company currently markets their “professional grade” laser machines to hobbyists, professionals, as well as schools and colleges.

A CO2 laser cutter or laser engraver produces an invisible gas laser utilizing carbon dioxide for the lasing medium. Using complimentary design software operators can quickly and efficiently laser cut, engrave, mark, and even process images across a variety of materials including but limited to: wood, plastic, stainless steel, paper, cloth, and a host of other workable materials. A complete list of materials a CO2 laser can process can be found here: laser applications

The company’s current line of CO2 laser systems range from a small 40W desktop laser with a 14×15″ engraving / cutting area all the way up to a 150W powered machine with a 51×98″ work area. Prices range from $2,800 up to $30,000.

“When it comes to buying a laser cutter, everyone tends to focus on as much power and engraving space their budget will allow, said co-owner Daniel Fox. “But, even more important is what the customer needs. We want to match the best machine to what the customer really needs for their unique application without up-selling them on something they may or may not need.”

In addition the company announced it will soon be unveiling their new U.S. manufactured control card and direct print software that will enable customers to quickly design, create, and print from most popular design applications such as CorelDRAW, AutoCAD or Photoshop.

“We put a lot of emphasis on the user getting a good experience operating our laser systems”, said Fox. “Obviously, its important to have power and working space but most of the time spent on a laser machine is in front of the computer screen using software to design and create. If the driver or software is difficult to install, navigate or doesn’t communicate to the laser efficiently (like a lot of stuff on the market now) then the customer suffers.”

The company’s new lineup of CO2 laser systems will include a more aesthetically designed cabinet, maximum engraving or ‘work space’, and finally a USA direct print software interface.

The Boss Laser website has a free laser sample services whereby prospective buyers can upload design files. The company will then laser cut or engrave the design and return ship for review.
