GSLO: Apple Peel 520 Will Be Compatible with iPod Touch 4G

GoSolarUSA (PinkSheets: GSLO) announced today that development is expected to begin soon on adapting the revolutionary Apple Peel 520 for Apple’s (NASDAQ: AAPL) recently released iPod Touch 4G.

Apple unveiled the fourth-generation iPod Touch on September 1. The new device is lighter and thinner than previous generations and two video cameras have been added (one facing the user and another facing out) to enable video chat.

The Apple Peel 520 is a wireless skin capable of transforming the iPod Touch into a smartphone, adding voice calling and text messaging capabilities to the cutting-edge gadget. GoSolarUSA signed an agreement with Chinese developer Yosion earlier this month to begin the process of bringing the Apple Peel 520 to the U.S. The company expects that few tweaks will be necessary to adapt the Apple Peel for the new iPod Touch.

“The Apple Peel 520 is a flexible, protective skin that slips over the iPod Touch’s case and includes a battery, dock connector and SIM card,” said GSLO President Tyson Rohde. “The new iPod Touch includes a couple of cameras and an integrated microphone in addition to its slimmer design. We’re working to help ensure that a new version of the Apple Peel will fit the new Touch snugly without covering the mic and camera lenses.”

During an online presentation earlier this month, Apple CEO Steve Jobs claimed that the company has sold 275 million iPods since the device’s release. The iPod Touch is Apple’s newest and most advanced model, reinventing the iconic media player into a pocket-sized tablet computer.

GSLO anticipates similar sales figures for the new iPod Touch 4G, Rohde said.

“The Apple Peel 520 is a very affordable piece of technology that could greatly increase the functionality and value of the iPod Touch 4G,” Rohde said. “We believe a massive market for next-gen Touch accessories is already building, both in the U.S. and around the globe.” According to Yosion, the initial Chinese manufacturing run for the device has already sold out.

Upon its release in the U.S., the Apple Peel 520’s expected retail price will be around $57, making its combination with the iPod Touch 4G a more economical alternative to Apple’s costlier iPhone 4.

GoSolarUSA is dedicated to aggressively acquiring, developing and marketing promising and potentially profitable technology. The iPod Touch and iPhone are products of Apple Inc., which competes in the global smartphone market against the Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) Android and Research in Motion’s (NASDAQ: RIMM) BlackBerry line.
