Leading economist warns against rapid yuan rise

China should keep its currency stable to the U.S. dollar and do more to boost domestic consumption, according to a noted U.S. economist, who cautioned that rapid appreciation of the yuan wasn’t in Beijing’s, or the world’s, interest.
