Barnes & Noble Announces Laura Lippman’s ‘Tess Monaghan’ Series as the February “Spotlight” Pick

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the world’s largest bookseller, today announced Laura Lippman’s ‘Tess Monaghan’ series will be featured as the February pick for “Barnes & Noble Spotlight” (www.bn.com/spotlight), a monthly NOOKbook program that features great writers at irresistible prices. Through Spotlight, NOOK readers can discover new authors and dive into an exciting series for a wallet-friendly price. Each month, Barnes & Noble Spotlight will promote an author of a popular or breakout series; genres will vary by month. This month, Barnes & Noble’s NOOKbook store will offer Baltimore Blues, the first book in Lippman’s ‘Tess Monaghan’ series, for only 99 cents for the month of February.

Unemployed at 29, Tess Monaghan is willing to take any job to pay the rent – including a bit of snooping for her friend Darryl “Rock” Paxton. In a city where murder is an everyday occurrence, attorney Michael Abramowitz’s death should be just another statistic. But the lawyer’s notoriety – and his afternoon trysts with Rock’s fiancée – makes the case front page news. It also points to Rock as the likely killer. But, trying to prove her friend’s innocence could be costly for Tess in Baltimore Blues. Lippman’s most recent title, The Girl in the Green Raincoat, is the latest in her ‘Tess Monaghan’ series and is also available in the Barnes & Noble NOOKbook store.

Each month, Spotlight will feature titles from a different genre including popular romance, young adult, fiction series and even cookbooks. Barnes & Noble Spotlight Online promotions include author videos, a Barnes & Noble Unbound blog and discussion, promotion via social media including the Barnes & Noble Twitter and Facebook pages. Customers who “like” Barnes & Noble on Facebook (www.facebook.com/nookBN) will be among the first to hear about the new collection every month.

NOOKbooks that are featured in Barnes & Noble Spotlight, along with two million other NOOKbooks, magazines and newspapers, can be purchased and read on the NOOK family of eBook Readers, including the newly introduced NOOKcolor™ and the award-winning NOOK™, and free NOOK software, available for iPad™, iPhone®, Android, Mac® and PC. The free NOOK apps are available to download at www.bn.com/freenookapps.
