BASF Net Profit Soars In Fourth Quarter, Optimistic For 2011

FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- Chemicals company BASF SE (BAS.XE) Thursday said it expects to "significantly exceed" last year's earnings this year after a sharp jump in fourth quarter net profit, as the chemicals business in particular profited from strong economic recovery boosted by higher prices and temporary supply shortages.
