NHL brings Versus to the big time

This week’s announcement that the National Hockey League has signed a new $2 billion, 10-year-deal with Comcast’s NBC Sports Group to air NHL games through the 2021 season on both its Versus cable network and NBC does more than just serve notice to ESPN, which also bid for the rights, that its upstart competition has deep pockets.
