In Collaboration with the {CFDA Fashion Incubator} MYHABIT Presents Limited-Edition Exclusive Designer T-Shirts

Starting today, recently launched online fashion destination MYHABIT.COM will offer its members exclusive access to limited-edition t-shirts designed by the inaugural class of CFDA Fashion Incubator designers. This coveted collection will feature the latest graphic inspirations from 12 of today’s most promising brands.

“MYHABIT.COM proudly supports the mission of ensuring the business growth and sustainability of the next generation of fashion designers,” said Maria Renz, president of MYHABIT. “We’re excited to support the CFDA Fashion Incubator and we think our customers will love the exclusive shirts these talented, up-and-coming designers have created for us.”

According to Lisa Smilor, associate executive director of the CFDA, “The exposure to be derived from an association with a high-end fashion destination such as MYHABIT is extremely beneficial to a young brand. The CFDA Fashion Incubator designers are most appreciative for this opportunity.”

Made with the best pima cotton, the limited-edition t-shirts showcase the latest graphic inspirations of Alice Ritter, Bibhu Mohapatra, Gemma Redux, Grey Ant, House of Waris, Jolibe, Prabal Gurung, Public School, Ruby Kobo, Sang A, Subversive Jewelry and Tom Scott, who share the following inspirations:

GREY ANT

Description: “An old fashioned 19th Century font reading ‘FUN FUN’ in a ‘Sickn'n’ color combination of flat gold, salmon, mauve and bright yellow.”

Inspiration: “I was looking to paraphrase the tenure of summer deciphered in English via the Japanese tongue.”

HOUSE OF WARIS

Description: “Waris + sports car + palm trees + naked friend.”

Inspiration: “Life.”

PUBLIC SCHOOL

Description: “The art was an idea one of our friend's suggested we create.”

Inspiration: “By definition it refers to a childlike irreverence that mirrors the spirit of our collection. The hand painted treatment also lends the imperfect nature of our designs.”

ALICE RITTER

Description: “The red and blue half circles are reminiscent of the modern design of movie posters from the 1960’s.”

Inspiration: “The graphic on my t-shirt is a collage of French movie quotes, more specifically, from my favorite 60's new wave movies by Godard and Truffaut: Breathless, Le Mepris, Band of Outsiders, Pierrot le Fou, Jules and Jim, Les 400 Coups and Bed and Board.”

BIBHU MOHAPATRA

Description: “The graphics are a jumble of four sets of numbers infused with letters B, I, H, U in a very random manner, displayed on a canvas that goes from dark to light.”

Inspiration: “A representation of a project I have been working on with a friend of mine, based on a major historic occurrence of events in the 20th century, that touched and changed the lives of millions forever. Each of the four colors of numbers represents men, women, children and people of alternative lifestyles.”

GEMMA REDUX

Description: “A hand-sketched large industrial link unisex necklace with oversized and super-saturated rubies, emeralds and tanzanite.”

Inspiration: “This design highlights the Gemma Redux aesthetic of mixing masculine and feminine, industrial and natural, in a silhouette that is bold and fun to wear, which is the focus for each of our pieces.”

JOLIBE

Description: “A graphic black and white free hand linear design.”

Inspiration: “Drawn from our transition and Spring 2011 collection prints.”

PRABAL GURUNG

Description: “Graphic ‘PG’ lego logo with three-dimensional effect.”

Inspiration: “This tee was inspired by legos seen at a vintage store.”

RUBY KOBO

Description: “This t-shirt shows the easy, casual way the ruby necklace can be worn.”

Inspiration: “The ruby is a stone both of us love and was the first stone we used when we started with Ruby Kobo. It will always be a part of our collection.”

SANG A

Description: “KEEP ON RARE BIRD. Bold black and red images of the bright piercing sun and a flock of birds printed on white ground.”

Inspiration: “This was inspired by the one bird leading the flock; a conqueror taking chances, a leader guiding the lost...a rare bird.”

SUBVERSIVE JEWELRY

Description: “I think this shirt is pretty self-explanatory.”

Inspiration: “My t-shirt is meant to inspire the realization that fashion and celebrity are not necessarily synonymous. One can appreciate and celebrate fashion without having to shoulder the burden of narcissism.”

TOM SCOTT

Description: “This is an image from my Fall 2011 collection, and then we chose the bright hot pink and printed it as a photo negative.”

Inspiration: “This t-shirt, and the entire Fall 2011 collection, is inspired by ‘deviance’ and ‘living on the fringe.’”

Offered in sizes S, M, L, XL the MYHABIT.COM/CFDA Fashion Incubator limited-edition t-shirts will be sold on www.MYHABIT.com for $30.
