SingTel Wins Five at IR Magazine Investor Relations Awards

Singapore, Dec 6, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - SingTel has topped the list of winners at the IR Magazine South East Asia Awards 2011. The Singaporean telecommunications giant collected a total of five awards, beating the four awards it won back in 2006. The record haul this year includes the grand prix for best overall investor relations for large cap companies, best investor community meetings and best corporate governance and disclosure policy. Keppel Land won the grand prix for small or mid-cap companies.

CapitaLand and DBS were two other big winners at the prestigious event, held yesterday at the Singapore Exchange. CapitaLand won three awards including the best IR officer award, jointly shared by Harold Woo and Cheong Kwok Mun, and the best CFO award for three-time award winner, Olivier Lim. DBS picked up two awards: best IR by a CEO for Piyush Gupta and best in the banks and financial services sector.

SingTel, CapitaLand and DBS are also the top three ranked companies from South East Asia in IR magazine's inaugural Asia Top 50. The new ranking is based on all the companies covered in the research for IR magazine's two Asian awards events in Greater China and South East Asia. The Asia Top 50 will be officially revealed when the IR Magazine Investor Perception Study 2011/2012 is published imminently. The extensive report of investor relations in Asia documents all the awards and rankings this year and profiles over 50 of the top ranked companies in the region.

Neil Stewart, host of the awards and editor-at-large of IR magazine, said, "SingTel and CapitaLand have been jockeying for the top spot in South East Asia for a few years. Last year it was CapitaLand. This year belongs to SingTel. Regardless, both companies should be proud of another cracking IR effort in 2011."

Philippine Long Distance Telephone won best IR by a Philippine company for the third year in a row. CIMB, Astra International and Precious Shipping picked up the equivalent best in country awards in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, respectively.

The best IR by an SGX Catalist company went to Santak Holdings of Singapore. This brand new award for 2011 turns the spotlight on the investor relations carried out by the fast-growth companies listed on the Singapore exchange's secondary market, Catalist.

Lawrence Wong, head of listings at the Singapore Exchange, was in attendance to applaud the inaugural winners. "Our sincere congratulations to Santak Holdings, a long established member of our Catalist community, on receiving the inaugural best investor relations award for a SGX Catalist company. Santak's efforts in reaching out to and engaging its shareholders and the investing community have been recognized by the industry. We hope that more Catalist companies will aspire to emulate Santak's efforts and achievement to the benefit of their shareholders," said Wong.

Around 150 people attended the award luncheon at the Singapore exchange. The gala event was held in conjunction with an all day conference where IR professionals and expert speakers gathered for seven sessions focusing on best practice investor relations.

The event was hosted in association with the Investor Relations Professionals Association (Singapore) and Singapore Exchange and was co-sponsored by BNY Mellon Depositary Receipts, Kreab Gavin Anderson, Nomura, Orient Capital, PR Newswire Asia and The Wall Street Journal Asia.
