Diagnostic products maker Gen-Probe’s (NASDAQ:GPRO) fourth-quarter fiscal 2011 adjusted (excluding one-time charges) earnings of 72 cents a share topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4 cents while exceeded the year-ago adjusted earnings of 61 cents.
However, the California-based company’s profit (as reported) plummeted 27% in the quarter to $19.9 million (or 42 cents a share), hammered by a $12.7 million charge related to the impairment of goodwill and intangible assets .
