On Thursday, February 23, the Jordan Brand, in association with the City of Orlando and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, kicked off NBA All-Star 2012 with a celebration at Jones High School in Orlando, FL. The Jordan Brand’s corporate responsibility program, Wings for the Future, resurfaced outdoor courts and provided uniforms for the Jones High School Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams.
In partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Jordan Brand held a coaches clinic led by Alan Stein, a renowned basketball specific strength and conditioning coach, for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida’s basketball coaches. In addition, the brand set up a month of free basketball clinics, installed an electric scoreboard and updated the gym at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, Universal Branch.
The brand began the Wings Celebration at Jones High School by hosting a career panel for the student athletes. Jordan Brand employees answered student’s questions about how sport influenced their successes.
Jordan Brand President, Keith Houlemard, kicked off the next part of the celebration by introducing Jordan Brand’s partners in the community including Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer. For the finale, Jordan Brand athlete and Olympic gold medalist April Holmes and Hip Hop artist Jadakiss helped Jordan Brand Vice President Howard “H” White unveil the three Jordan Brand designed uniforms for the Men’s and Women’s Varsity Basketball teams.
“It was an honor for the Jordan Brand to partner with the City of Orlando, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida and Jones High School,” said Keith Houlemard, President of the Jordan Brand. “This month long partnership gave the Brand the opportunity to give back to the Orlando community and help inspire today’s youth to become the next generation of leaders.”
