Safety is a top priority at DuPont, and this commitment continues through the transportation supply chain, even after products are manufactured.
Seventeen DuPont manufacturing facilities across the US have been awarded by CSX Transportation as winners of the 18th annual Chemical Safety Excellence Award, which recognizes customers' commitment to the safe transportation of hazardous materials by rail through safe loading and maintenance of rail cars.
To qualify for the Chemical Safety Excellence Award, DuPont facilities shipped a combined total of more than 20,000 carloads of materials via CSX rail lines during the year without a non-accident release.
"We are proud of our transportation safety record, and it is humbling to be recognized by one of our major transportation suppliers," said Tim Byrd, director of global logistics for DuPont. "We are committed to continuous improvement in our safety practices."
"DuPont shares CSX's intense focus on the safe transportation of chemical products," said Clarence Gooden, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, CSX. "We are proud of these customers and their accomplishments in helping to move these products safely and reliably."
Gooden and Michael Ward, CSX chairman, president and CEO, presented awards to DuPont and other award-winners at a recent ceremony in Jacksonville, Fla. Other DuPont facilities receiving the award include:
