Stocks were moving lower in early trading, starting the last day of what's been a sour month on yet another bitter note. The day's modest losses were driven by a report showing that U.S. personal spending was weaker than expected, and news that Spain's economy has fallen into recession. With earnings season well under way, many investors are pointing to expectations for soft profit growth later this year.
