GNC, Vitamin Shoppe Fall On FDA Supplement Warning
GNC Holdings (GNC) and Vitamin Shoppe (VSI) shares fell sharply Monday, after the FDA sent a warning letters Friday to 10 makers of workout enhancers that use 1,3-dimethylamylamine or DMAA, for lack of safety evidence. DMAA was originally marketed and sold as a nasal decongestant but is now sold as a popular energy enhancer or weight loss product.
