UPDATE 1-HTC smartphone maker settles U.S. software security case

WASHINGTON, Feb 22 (Reuters) - HTC America, a maker of smartphones and tablets that use Android and Windows software, has agreed to settle a U.S. regulator's charges it failed to take adequate steps to eliminate security flaws that put users' data at risk.
