Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY), BlackBerry maker, on Thursday reported a modest profit for three months period assisted by lower costs and costs even as sales moved up 36% from previous year.

Quarterly net income was $98 million or $0.19 a share, evaluated against a loss of $125 million or $0.24 a share in previous year.

Struggling smart phone maker Income from continuing operations was $94 million or $0.18 a share, evaluated against a loss from continuing operations of $118 million or $0.23 a share in the similar period a fiscal year 2012. Quarterly revenues moved down to $2.678 billion from $4.181 billion in a year ago period.

The Plymouth, Minnesota-based Mosaic Co (NYSE:MOS) reported fiscal Q3 profit surpass analysts’ forecasts as potash sales came in at the high end of the firm’s estimate owing to Asian demand.

Mosaic reported in a statement on Thursday that net income moved up to $344.6 million or 81 cents per share, from $273.3 million or 64 cents per share in previous year.

Profit was 90 cents per share without few items, surpassing the 88-cent median forecast of 17 analysts’ gathered by Bloomberg. Quarterly Sales hiked 2.3% to $2.24 billion, failing to meet the $2.3 billion median of 15 forecasts. Shares of Mosaic moved up 1.6% to $59.61 in New York and stock hiked 5.3% current year.
