PRLog - Jun 19, 2013 - SAN FRANCISCO -- Telcare, Inc., http://www.telcare.com presented today as part of the Internet of Things panel at the Rutberg-sponsored Future:Mobile conference held today.  Dr. Jonathan Javitt, CEO of Telcare described Telcare’s new cellular-powered glucose meter, that connects people with Diabetes to their physicians, families, and caregivers, all at the price of unconnected, legacy glucose meters.  The panel was moderated by Tim Bajarin, a Time.com columnist who is recognized as one of the leading industry consultants, analysts and futurists, covering the field of personal computers and consumer technology.

Mr. Bajarin described for the audience his own experience with diabetes and the need for tools that enable people with this and other chronic conditions to receive regular guidance and coaching from their medical caregivers.  An audience member described the recent diagnosis of type I diabetes in his 17 year old son and how difficult it is for parents to assist children and teenagers in managing this condition without a technology such as Telcare’s.

“Because of Telcare’s mHealth technology, we are receiving reports of young people being allowed to go to Boy Scout camp for the first time.  Mothers are telling us that the text messages they receive each time their children test their blood sugar offers them the peace of mind to go about their other daily activities.  Most importantly, the link created by Telcare’s mHealth technology between patients with diabetes and those who care for them and about them begins to break down the profound sense of isolation associated with Diabetes and other chronic illnesses,” said Dr. Javitt.
