In today’s 24/7 world, people are often going right up until they have to get to bed—leaving them unable to turn off their minds. In fact, according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), 41 percent of Americans report having problems with tossing and turning at least a few nights a week.1 P&G is partnering with two such sufferers, celebrity physician and wellness expert, Dr. Ian Smith, as well as lifestyle expert and busy mom, Jeannette Kaplun. Both can personally attest to this issue as well as how great sleep can actually start in the laundry room with the use of the Sweet Dreams Collection on bedtime fabrics.

“It’s hard to unwind and turn off your mind at the end of the day especially when technology like laptops and smartphones are so readily accessible and easy to use in bed,” said Dr. Smith. “In fact, the use of electronics before bedtime is one of the biggest issues doctors notice in patients who struggle to relax in order to fall asleep. That’s why I recommend patients start with simple solutions I’ve tried myself like turning off electronics at least 30 minutes before bedtime and creating an ideal sleep environment including washing linens and pajamas in the Sweet Dreams Collection.”

Often people jump to drastic measures to help with their sleep issues. However, according to a survey conducted by Healthcare Research & Analytics (HRA), 100 percent of doctors agree that an appropriate sleeping environment is critical to aid a person’s ability to relax so they can fall asleep.2 What’s more is that half of physicians would recommend their patients use clean, lavender scented bedtime fabrics as a way to help them relax so they can fall asleep.3 With the launch of the Sweet Dreams Collection, everyone has the opportunity to create an ideal sleep environment so they can tuck in and turn off.

“Tuck In. Turn Off.” Pledge

With Daylight Saving Time approaching and an extra hour of sunlight ahead, many may experience increased trouble falling asleep. This is all the more reason for people to begin their bedtime routines in the laundry room and to take the “Tuck In. Turn Off.” Pledge.

Many people are aware of the benefits of sleep, but with a variety of distractions, it can be difficult for people to relax in order for them to fall asleep. In fact, a recent HRA survey found that, 57 percent of doctors reported one of their patients’ biggest hindrances to falling asleep is engaging in electronics such as phones, computers, iPads and television too close to bedtime.4 The “Tuck In. Turn Off.” Pledge aims to combat this by encouraging people to turn off their technology at least 30 minutes before bedtime and tuck in to clean fabrics infused with the soothing scent and softness of the Sweet Dreams Collection. The pledge can be taken online by visiting www.TuckInTurnOff.com.

“Tuck In. Turn Off.” Tour

The Sweet Dreams Collection is joining forces with Dr. Ian Smith and Jeannette Kaplun to transform high-trafficked areas from coast to coast. Attendees will receive tips on how to relax so they can fall asleep including how to create a relaxing sleep environment with the Sweet Dreams Collection.

On Tuesday, February 25th the Sweet Dreams Collection will help New York City–the ‘city that never sleeps’– tuck in for the night, in Grand Central’s Vanderbilt Hall, between 9am and 6pm EST. Experts, including Dr. Ian Smith, will stop by to talk about the Sweet Dreams Collection benefits, interact with attendees and introduce them the “Tuck In. Turn Off.” Pledge.

On Friday, March 7th the “Tuck in. Turn Off.” Tour will travel to Los Angeles to put the ‘city of dreams’ to bed. The west coast “Tuck In. Turn Off.” event will take place between 9am and 6pm PST at The Grove. Similar to the New York event, experts will be on hand to discuss how to create a relaxing sleep environment with the Sweet Dreams Collection.
