Albritton of Exelis named to ‘Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America’ list

Exelis (NYSE: XLS) Vice President and Chief Communications Officer David Albritton has earned a place on Savoy Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America list.

“The Savoy Top 100 is the definitive list of African American achievers, influencers and executives facilitating global change through their leadership,” according to the magazine’s website. Savoy Magazine “showcases and drives positive dialogue on and about black culture.”

During the selection process, a committee reviews information on prospective candidates from more than 500 companies. From there, the field is narrowed “based upon their exemplary record of accomplishments and for stepping up their game ... to help better their community and to inspire others,” according to Catrina Dawkins, chief communications officer for Savoy Magazine.

Albritton was named to the list for his actions inside and outside the company, which includes his commitment to community engagement. Through his leadership at Exelis, the company accomplished significant goals including a successful transition of its corporate brand, communications support for strategic company business objectives, and the establishment of an employee volunteer service program.

“David is a pillar of the company and community who demonstrates the vision, leadership and strength necessary to keep us ahead of the curve when it comes to marketing and communications,” said Exelis Chief Executive Officer and President David Melcher. “Having him on the Exelis team means we are continually advancing our reputation as a leading aerospace and defense technology company among our shareholders, customers and competitors.”

In 2011, when Exelis spun off from its former parent company, ITT Corporation, to become a standalone publicly traded company, Albritton was the architect of the creation and successful launch of the new company’s global brand.

He is the force behind the launch and widespread impact of the company’s volunteer service program, Exelis Action Corps. Through this program, company employees and their families make a difference for military service members, veterans and their families, and support them transitioning back to civilian life through select volunteer opportunities. A veteran himself, Albritton served 10 years in the U.S. Navy after graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1988.

Through his membership on the Exelis Inclusion and Diversity Council, Albritton actively supports the Exelis commitment to foster an inclusive culture. The council provides guidance for and feedback on Exelis diversity and inclusion efforts; input in the areas of talent development, staffing, and workforce planning; and raises awareness for employees across the company.

Albritton and his achievements will be showcased in a special section of Savoy Magazine’s Spring 2014 issue.
