American Campus Communities Announces Greg Dowell's Retirement from the Company

American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE:ACC), the largest owner, manager and developer of high-quality student housing properties in the U.S., today announced that Greg A. Dowell, the company's senior executive vice president and chief operating officer, has announced he will retire from the company on September 30, 2014. During his remaining tenure Dowell will facilitate an orderly transition on the strategic initiatives with which he has been recently involved. The company intends to have Jennifer Beese, executive vice president – operations and leasing, and Jim Hopke, executive vice president – asset management, continue to provide strategic and executive oversight in each of their respective areas. Both will report directly to Bill Bayless, American Campus chief executive officer. Jim Sholders, senior vice president of operations, will continue to oversee day to day property operations and will continue to report to Jennifer Beese.
