What: | Governor Corbett will visit Aqua’s time-fill CNG fueling station in Springfield, Pa. to see first-hand the company’s growing fleet of vehicles that use compressed natural gas (CNG), a clean-burning fuel alternative. The fleet has been partially funded through grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Both Governor Corbett and DeBenedictis will provide remarks. | ||
In March, Aqua received a $225,000 grant from the DEP’s Act 13 fund. The grant is being used to fund the purchase of nine additional Freightliner M2 CNG-fueled dump trucks. In 2013, the company received an Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) of $86,812 from the DEP for the purchase of 14 new CNG-fueled vans. Aqua also received two grants for approximately $70,000 for infrastructure and plans to install private fueling stations at its West Chester and Willow Grove operations centers. | |||
Aqua has supported a CNG fleet for more than a decade, purchasing its first bi-fuel pickup in 1997. To date, the company has invested $675,000 in CNG through vehicle purchases and infrastructure upgrades, including the construction of time-fill fueling stations. | |||
