MACOM and Blackmagic Design Collaborate to Bring 12G-SDI Solutions to Market

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions for broadcast video infrastructure, today announced that Blackmagic Design, a leading manufacturer of broadcast and post production equipment, has selected MACOM 12G-SDI devices for their new 4K UHDTV conversion product.

12G-SDI is the next data rate in the evolution of the SDI standard. It is required in order to support 4K resolutions at 60 frames per second over a single coaxial cable, or optical fiber.

“Consumers appetite for 4K D-Cinema and UHDTV-1 content is growing at a tremendous rate. By using MACOM’s 12G-SDI products we are able to demonstrate 4K60P solutions carried over a single link to serve this new demand.
