NuScale Power to Hold First Supplier’s Day Event in Conjunction with 2014 Intermountain Energy Summit

As part of the continuing efforts of the Western Initiative for Nuclear, NuScale Power, LLC announced today that it will hold its first Supplier’s Day event in conjunction with the 2014 Intermountain Energy Summit at the Shilo Inn and Convention Center in Idaho Falls on Thursday, August 21, 2014.

During the one-day event, NuScale will provide organizations in the nuclear industry supply chain with the understanding they will need to help prepare to meet NuScale’s SMR manufacturing requirements.

Scott Bailey, NuScale’s Vice President of Supply Chain, stated, “Our objective for this event is two-fold; first, it provides NuScale with a means to communicate to SMR-interested nuclear industry suppliers on ways to get involved, and second, it allows NuScale an opportunity to learn more about the capabilities of potential suppliers.”

NuScale is revolutionizing the nuclear supply chain through the way reactor modules will be fabricated and the way power plants will be constructed:

• The NuScale Power Module™ will be factory-built and transportable to the site by ship, rail or truck.
• The small plant size and simple design will lead to smaller components and a lower number of critical components.
• Modularized components will be fabricated and assembled at offsite manufacturing facilities—standardizing the manufacturing process, increasing efficiency, improving quality, and lowering cost.
