Comark Turns to Demandware to Power Digital Commerce across Multiple Brands

Demandware®, Inc. (NYSE: DWRE), the industry-leading provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, today announced that Comark Inc., parent company to three Canadian specialty apparel retailers, recently launched new ecommerce sites – Ricki's, Bootlegger and cleo – on the Demandware Commerce platform. The retailer moved from a hosted ecommerce solution to Demandware’s cloud-based platform for a flexible and scalable digital backbone to support its growing, multi-brand, omni-channel retail operations. With Demandware, Comark is managing its entire brand portfolio from a central platform, leveraging the operational efficiencies of Demandware’s cloud infrastructure, while maintaining the ability to tailor the shopping experience for each brand.

Comark operates over 300 stores in Canada across its three divisions. Each brand targets a unique customer base, ranging from young adults in Bootlegger, to the younger working woman at Ricki’s, to a more mature woman at cleo. Limited by its hosted platform, Comark turned to Demandware for improved storefront capabilities and superior site performance.

“We’re committed to giving our customers great products and remarkable brand experiences,” said Deanna Traa, CMO, Comark. “Demandware helps us deliver on this promise across our brands. It’s a flexible and scalable platform that allows us to meet the unique needs of our individual business divisions, while realizing the operational benefits of a central cloud platform.”

In addition, new website features on Demandware enabled Comark to begin to integrate the online and offline experience. Comark took its first steps toward omni-channel enablement by including “ship to store” and “find it in store” capabilities on its new sites, two features that offer convenience and choice to “on-the-go” consumers. Initial customer response has been very positive.

“Unlike hosted solutions that limit a retailer’s ability to deliver unique branded experiences, the Demandware platform puts control in the hands of the merchant,” said Jeffrey Barnett, COO, Demandware. “With powerful merchandising functionality and a highly scalable cloud platform for managing consumer engagement across channels, Comark can grow with confidence, knowing it has a solid digital commerce backbone in Demandware.”

The implementation of the project was led by Lyons Consulting Group, a Demandware LINK partner. Comark also leveraged several pre-built integrations to third-party technologies available through the Demandware LINK Technology Marketplace, including Bazaarvoice, Listrak and PayPal.
