8x8 Issued Two New Communications Patents by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

8x8, Inc. (NASDAQ: EGHT), a provider of cloud-based unified communications, contact center and collaboration services, today announced that it has been awarded two new patents related to its communications technologies. On August 12, 2014, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued United States Patent number 8,804,704 entitled “Method and System for Updating Physical Location Information” as well as United States Patent number 8,804,940 entitled “Networked Contact Center.” The ‘940 patent is a continuation of United States Patent number 8,619,967 which was awarded to 8x8 on December 31, 2013.

The ‘704 patent relates to a method and system for updating physical location data associated with a voice over Internet protocol (“VoIP”) endpoint that is associated with an Internet service.

The ‘940 patent relates to, among other things, a networked contact center that includes multiple platforms to host multiple tenants. Example embodiments of the invention include receiving a message associated with one of the tenants and identifying one or more of the platforms associated with the message. The invention also enables the networked contact center platform to access a data location that is both associated with the tenant and shared by two or more multiple tenants.

Since its establishment, 8x8 has been awarded ninety-four (94) United States patents covering a variety of voice and video communications, signaling, processing and storage technologies.
