Securities America Hosts 2014 Managed Money Conference

Ninety financial advisors had the opportunity to discuss the diverse money manager options available at Securities America’s 7th annual Managed Money Conference in Amelia Island, Fla., Nov. 4-6.

The event provided ideas, techniques and tactics, helping advisors learn more about the programs offered by the third-party money managers available through Securities America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. (NYSE MKT: LTS).

Twenty-three top third-party money managers and two mutual fund companies discussed sophisticated strategies and trends in asset management. Attendees were given an exclusive briefing on enhancements and initiatives underway at Securities America Advisors, including the mobile app for the Managed Opportunities platform that was made available to all Securities America advisors at no cost.

Two industry leaders delivered informative and inspiring keynotes for advisors. Bob Nelson, managing partner of Nelson Murphy Insurance & Investments, LLC in Omaha, Neb., provided the morning keynote speech. Based on his long and distinguished career in financial services, Nelson engaged the audience with the topic, “What I wish I knew when I came into the business.” In the evening, Judson Bergman, chairman and chief executive officer of Envestnet presented advisors with a second keynote speech. Bergman’s remarks focused on “The Next Big Idea.”

There were more than 20 sessions for advisors to attend during the conference, which also dedicated time to advisors managing their clients’ assets themselves. Advisors had opportunities to network with one another to discuss and share ideas to implement in their own offices.

“The Managed Money Conference gives our advisors time to focus on the unique approaches offered by the diverse list of money managers available at Securities America Advisors,” said Dennis King, senior vice president of business development and fee-based sales. “The intimate setting of the conference allows these independent financial advisors to meet with money managers one-on-one to discuss their specific business models and goals, allowing them to expand their investment advisory services to clients.”
