IT/Redux Announces Program for Office 2.0 Conference

IT|Redux, New Rules for a New IT World, today announced the program for the second edition of the Office 2.0 Conference to take place in San Francisco, CA on September 5-7, 2007. The event will focus on product demonstrations, online collaboration and social computing in the enterprise, and knowledge worker mobility and productivity.

"I found the conference to be amazing and riveting. The people I met in the hallway were as diverse, as interesting, and as insightful as the panels," said Rod Boothby, Teqlo senior director product management. "The range of problems identified and solutions proposed was incredible. The intermingling of clients, solution providers, analysts, journalists, and investors was amazing. Where else do you get a chance to deal with that range of people thinking about the next generation in office productivity tools and enterprise solutions?"

This year, the Office 2.0 Conference will be preceded by an unconference, also known as Open Space, to take place at the St. Regis Hotel, San Francisco, on September 5, 2007. The Office 2.0 Unconference is organized by Kaliya Hamlin, Identity Woman, and Ross Mayfied, Socialtext CEO. The unconference is open to all conference attendees, as well as to the general public, and will identify the critical questions that should be addressed during the main conference.

"It feels good to underestimate somebody or some group or an event with the millstone of Office 2.0 branding," said Steve Gillmor, GestureLab editor. "But Ismael's centered confidence in what he has discovered, both in terms of focus and community, has birthed a formidable model that sits comfortably along the conference/unconference fault line with few of the defects of either extreme."

The conference will feature four parallel tracks: two Demo Tracks focusing on product demonstrations, the Enterprise 2.0 Track covering the adoption of web 2.0 technologies in the enterprise, and the Mobility & Productivity Track focusing on the end user.

The Demo Tracks will host over 60 product demonstrations, many of which to be given by actual customers. Each demonstration will run for 10 to 15 minutes and will be given twice, once on each day of the conference. All demonstrations will showcase actual customer use cases and will outline lessons learned from large scale deployments, as well as best practices for end user adoption. Many demonstrations will also feature innovative integration scenarios with the Apple iPhone that will be used by every conference attendee.

The Enterprise 2.0 Track will host two keynote presentations and six panels, featuring speakers from organizations such as the CSC Leading Edge Forum, De Montfort University, GSK, Medtronic, Morgan Stanley, Pfizer, SAP, Sony Computer Entertainment America, and Stanford University. The panels will cover topics such as Social Computing in the Enterprise, Culture, People and Technology, The End User as Web Practioner, Knowledge Worker 2.0, Mindmapping & Collaboration, and Managing Online Communities.

The Mobility & Productivity Track will host two keynote presentations and six panels, featuring speakers from leading Office 2.0 companies such as Etelos, Google, Jive Software, ThinkFree, WebEx, and Zoho. The panels will cover topics such as Collaborative Project Management, Implementing David Allen's Getting Things Done Methodology, Migrating to an Office 2.0 Setup, New Devices for Mobile Workers, Technologies for Rich Internet Applications, and Using Apple's iPhone for Business Applications.

Lastly, a panel called Classroom 2.0 will present how Web 2.0 is changing education. The panel will be moderated by Steve Hargadon, Classroom 2.0 editor and will include representatives from Childnet International, the Michigan Leadership Improvement Framework Endorsement (MI-LIFE), NextVista.org, Nimble Press, the San Mateo Union High School District, Wikispaces, and Youth and Educators Succeeding (YES).

"This year's program is absolutely fascinating," said Ismael Ghalimi, event producer. "With a strong focus on customers and the addition of a full track on Enterprise 2.0, this year's conference should help organizations small and large to better understand how they can make Office 2.0 work today and the benefits they should expect from early stage adoption."
