Industry-First Audio and Visual Innovations from Polycom Advance Collaboration And Usher in the Workplace of the Future—Today

Regardless of distance, location or time, today’s business environment is demanding always-on connectivity and effective collaboration. Driven by creating high-quality and easy-to-use collaboration experiences, Polycom, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), today announced new breakthroughs to its market-leading portfolio of video, voice and content collaboration solutions that help organizations defy distance, create a culture of collaboration and usher in the workplace of the future—today.

Polycom puts experiences at the center of its product and solutions development to create collaboration solutions that fit the way teams work—not the other way around. With the workplace rapidly evolving to include more open spaces and accommodate workers on the go, Polycom’s latest innovations advance collaboration regardless of location or device. The Polycom® EagleEye™ Producer is an industry-first camera innovation that advances facial recognition technology to create a more natural, production-like experience. It dynamically finds everyone in the discussion and automatically frames them for clear view—even when new people join or leave the room. When used with Polycom® RealPresence® Group Series solutions and Polycom® RealPresence® Resource Manager software, it reports valuable data, including the number of participants at the start of the meeting, the end and the total time each attended, to help administrators with utilization planning. See how it works.

Polycom® NoiseBlock™ technology, another industry first and new feature of Polycom RealPresence Group Series and Polycom® RealPresence® Collaboration Server solutions, automatically eliminates extraneous noises such as paper shuffling, crinkling food wrappers and keyboard typing from interrupting conversations. For users on the go, Polycom® Acoustic Bubble™ technology, available in Polycom® RealPresence® Desktop video collaboration software, automatically removes unwanted noise from a call, including background conversations, city street noise or other peripheral sounds, without the end user having to hover over the mute button.

“Polycom is focused on leading our customers’ success by creating solutions to help them build a collaborative experience that is both natural and easy to use,” said Peter Leav, Polycom President and CEO. “The innovations we unveiled today are a direct reflection of that commitment and our vision to unleash the power of human collaboration. With the right combination of technology, people and processes, organizations can improve productivity, boost innovation and hone their competitive edge.”

Collaboration Solutions for (Any)Where You Work

Whether in a conference room, open office space, home office or coffee shop, Polycom collaboration solutions are transforming the way teams collaborate regardless of distance or device. Enhancements to Polycom RealPresence Group Series make it ideal for high-impact meetings in any size space. In addition to NoiseBlock technology, RealPresence Group Series now includes full HD multipoint enhancements and better interoperability with Microsoft Lync 2013. These video collaboration solutions already delivered unique, true-to-life experiences with innovations like Polycom® VisualBoard™ and Polycom® SmartPairing™ technologies. Polycom VisualBoard technology takes team collaboration one step further by allowing participants to share, update and create content using a PC, touchscreen or Polycom® UC Board™ system. With Polycom SmartPairing technology, the Polycom® RealPresence® Mobile application becomes the whiteboard, letting users share and annotate on documents stored locally or in the cloud. It can also transfer a call from a mobile device to RealPresence Group Series, letting users control the meeting right from their personal device. Learn more here.

Polycom RealPresence Desktop and Polycom RealPresence Mobile solutions make it even easier than ever to connect and enjoy a full, rich experience from any place you choose to work. Polycom RealPresence Desktop gives users new functionality, including instant messaging to one click video collaboration, predictive directory search, dial by name directory, Polycom Acoustic Bubble and automatic mute detection, which notifies users through visual alerts that they are not being heard if speaking while on mute, which is a common problem in conferences. RealPresence Desktop also pairs with RealPresence Group Series to enhance and extend collaboration with wireless content sharing.

Polycom RealPresence Mobile, a high-quality video and content collaboration application for tablets and smartphones, now delivers full 720p video on select mobile devices, allowing users to see participants and content more clearly. Upgrades to the free app allow users to share and work on content with other meeting participants, and includes far-end camera controls, encryption and integration into traditional third-party voice deployments.

Collaboration Solutions for How You Work

The new Polycom® RealPresence® Video App Software Development Kit (SDK) allows partners and customers to incorporate Polycom voice, video and collaboration into core business processes and business applications organizations use the most, boosting overall productivity and unlocking new service delivery models. Since it interoperates with standards-based video endpoints and integrates with third-party UC platforms, it can meet the customization needs in any industry, from banking and hospitality to healthcare and more.

Polycom® RealPresence® Platform is the first and only Microsoft-qualified video infrastructure for Microsoft Lync 2013, enabling a seamless solution for connecting Lync to non-Lync environments. New enhancements also make it easier for IT administrators to more effectively manage collaboration across the enterprise, allowing for up to 50 percent more HD ports. In addition to gathering data from EagleEye Producer using RealPresence Resource Manager to track and report on the number of meeting participants in a conference room, it now also simplifies provisioning Polycom conference phones integrated with Cisco Unified Communications Manager call servers. Polycom® RealPresence® Platform Director gives administrators the ability to analyze data from across their UC investments with enhanced monitoring and graphical time-period reporting, allowing them to better manage feature licenses and allocate resources where needed. Polycom® RealPresence® Access Director now supports network topologies for load balancing to help administrators optimize and better manage network and server resources, which ultimately helps improve the overall end user experience.
